She's made a name for herself painting the iconic rock on UT's campus, now artist Payton Miller has taken her talent to Bristol.
As a crowd watched on State Street, Payton spend about 4 hours Thursday night painting a portrait of Smokey on a much smaller canvas--- a piece of wood shaped like UT's rock.
She said she really enjoyed the process and the people who kept her company--- she usually spends all night painting her creations on campus when no one else is around.
In addition, Payton is from Kingsport, so she had many friends and family in the audience as she worked.
The finished product was signed on the back by many in the crowd who gathered to watch her work, and it will be given to Bristol Motor Speedway as a lasting reminded of the Battle at Bristol.
