Five local prep stars win Mr. Football Awards

Five players in our area were honored Monday with the Mr. Football Award for outstanding play.

Five talented high schoolers from our area have won Mr. Football Awards. They received them Monday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, home of the Tennessee Titans.

Josh Silvey of Greenback won the Class 1A Lineman of the Year award. Silvey and the Cherokees look to win Greenback its first state championship Friday for the first time since 1987. Silvey is a senior listed at 6'0, 280 pounds.
 
In Class 3A, Tykee Kellogg took home the Class 3A Back of the Year award. Kellogg, a 6'5 junior, plays for the Alcoa Tornadoes. They play Liberty in the state finals Friday.

 
Knoxville Catholic boasted two award winners Monday. Cade Mays, a 6'5 290-pound junior, is the Class 4A lineman of the year. Mays is a five-star Tennessee commit. Amari Rodgers, a Clemson commit, won the Class 4A Back award.
 
Oak Ridge senior Tee Higgins took home the back award in Class 5A. Higgins, like Rodgers, is also a Clemson commit.
