Fulton tops Giles County for 4A state title, 54-14

COOKEVILLE, TN--- The Fulton Falcons end 2013 at a perfect 15-0 after a win over Giles County in the TSSAA Class 4A final.

Fulton broke out to a 20 to nothing lead in the first half. Giles County answered with two touchdowns after the break, but that was it.

Quarterback Penny Smith was 7 of 15 for 143 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 44 yards on 10 carries. Xavier Hawkins was catching and running Saturday night. He rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns and recorded 57 receiving yards and two touchdown catches. Hawkins was named offensive MVP.

Fulton's Sidney Jackson was the defensive MVP with 8 tackles, 1 for loss and an interception.

The state championship is the fifth in school history.
