Sevier County ready to host Science Hill

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn-- Sevier County continues their home stand in the 6A playoffs Friday night against Science Hill.

The Smokey Bears defeated Cookeville in the first round, 56-42. Head coach Steve Brewer says they scored on every possession except one.

Quarterback Luke Manning finished the night completing 24 of 27 passing attempts for 226 yards and four touchdowns.

Coach Brewer credits their success to their depth.

"We've got a lot of people participating right now," said Brewer. "I think we've got 18 different people that have caught a pass. We've got 18 different people that have scored and so it has just been a team effort and that's the only way we can do it."

Science Hill held off Farragut last week, also winning 56-42. Isaac Story intercepted a pass for the Hilltoppers and ran it back 55 yards for a touchdown to give them the lead in the second quarter. Mikey White grabbed a 38-yard TD before the half to give Science Hill a 14-point lead.

"I know they'll come ready to play," said Brewer. "I believe our guys will come ready to play and it should be a good ball game."
