The Blitz takes a look into first round of playoffs

First round matchup against Unicoi County for Fulton in the playoffs? No problem. When have the Falcons not blown a team out of the stadium this season? The Blue Devils were just 4-7 in the regular season and seeped into the playoffs, but Fulton had their way from the jump. A 61-0 halftime lead balooned to a 74-0 beatdown for Fulton. They march on to the next round.

Maryville got a scare early. After a touchdown in the first 30-seconds of the game, the eighth seeded Bradley Central Bears came right back to tie the game. The Bears had a 5-5 record during the regular season, but they came to play against the Rebels. They took the game to 14-14 at the half, but Maryville pulled away late, winning 42-21.

Alcoa played York Institute in their first round playoff game. Alcoa blew them off the field in a hurry and York Institute couldn't get anything going all night. They lost their last game of the regular season 38-0 and Alcoa showed them no mercy either. They win easily 45-7.

Anderson County's high powered offence was slowed down last week in their win against Oak Ridge, but they pumped in the points in their first round game against Cherokee. The Mavericks returned to their old high scoring ways and beat the Chiefs 54-28.

Gibbs and Campbell County met in Wekk 6, a game in which Campbell County came out on top by only a touchdown. The two teams met again in the first round of the playoffs. It wasn't even close. The Cougars clip the Eagles 41-7.

West would meet David Crockett in their first round playoff matchup. The Rebels have been torching teams this season and haven't lost since Week 1. They continued that trend into the playoffs, whipping the Pioneers 60-0.

Catholic would continue the trend of Knoxville-area teams blowing out the opposition. DeKalb County came to town and while Catholic had lost three out of their last four, they came ready to play in this one. They beat the Tigers convincingly 55-13.

CAK has come on strong late in the season, ending the regular season on a two-game winning streak. Gatlinburg-Pittman came in with an 8-2 record. But what was expected to be a close game turned out to be the opposite. CAK brought their A-game and ground the Highlanders 56-21 in a blowout.

Talk about a game full of offense tonight at Sevier County who hosted Cookeville. The Smoky Bears offense just could not be stopped with Luke Manning's accuracy as well as their receivers and Dorian Banks making big plays. Sevier County would clinch the win and come out on top 56-42 over Cookeville.

As predicted, Science Hill's offense was hard to stop. However, Farragut did not go down without a fight. This game was packed with offense as the final was 56-42. The Admirals had a tough match for the first round, and their season has come to an end. Science Hill and their dominant offense will advance to the next round.

South Doyle was looking for their first playoff win since 1992 as they visited Tennessee High tonight. The Cherokee offense was looking solid as usual as they put up points quick. South Doyle would leave little room for Tennessee High to make the comeback. They would win 41-14 and get their first playoff win in 11 years.

Carter who traveled to Sullivan South had both been killing teams until they reached their final games of the regular season. They each have 9-1 records and faced unfortunate placement in the first round of the playoffs. Sullivan South would prove to be stronger tonight in their 40-23 win over the Hornets.
