Weekly granddaughters lead TKA to state

Ralph and Karen Weekly's granddaughters Taylor and Regan sparked a 33-run day at the plate for King's Academy in a doubleheader sweep to earn a trip back to the state tournament.

Ralph and Karen Weekly will lead Tennessee softball into an NCAA Regional on Friday night for the 14th straight year.

Next week, their granddaughters will lead The King's Academy softball team back to the state tournament in Murfreesboro.

Taylor and Regan Weekly, the first two hitters in the Lions lineup, sparked a 33-run outburst in TKA's doubleheader sweep of Harding Academy on Thursday to clinch a trip back to Spring Fling.

The Lions won the school's first ever team state championship last season. The team is coached by Ralph's son, Marc Weekly.

King's Academy is a small private school in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Seymour, Tenn.

TKA beat Harding Academy 15-0 and 18-1 in a best-of-three sub-state series on Thursday to earn the trip back to the 'Boro.
