Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly
acquired linebacker DeMeco Ryans from the Houston Texans for a mid-round draft
pick, according to a report in the Houston Chronicle.
The deal is contingent on Ryans passing a physical on Wednesday.
Ryans, a two-time Pro Bowler, recorded 64 tackles through 16 games for the
Texans last season after seeing his playing time diminish under new defensive
coordinator Wade Phillips' 3-4 scheme.
A former second-round draft choice by Houston in 2006, Ryans recorded over 100
tackles and did not miss a game in each of his first four seasons with the
Texans before missing 10 contests in the 2010 campaign after tearing the
Achilles tendon in his left heel.
Through 86 career games, the 27-year-old Alabama product has 636 tackles, 8
1/2 sacks and two interceptions.
