Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce
could miss the remainder of the season because of a right knee injury he
sustained during Sunday's game against Baltimore.
Kelce left in the third quarter of the 24-23 victory after a Baltimore player
rolled into his knee.
Eagles athletic trainer Rick Burkholder updated Kelce's status Monday and said
a diagnostic arthroscope on Tuesday could determine how long the second-year
player out of Cincinnati is sidelined.
Burkholder said Kelce has a total tear of the medial collateral ligament and a
partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament. The MCL injury usually takes
4-to-6 weeks to heal and then a decision on surgery for the ACL would take
place. An operation for the ACL would end Kelce's season.
"The MCL has to heal up before you can do anything with the ACL," Burkholder
said Monday. "Then you have to decide whether you're going to fix (the ACL)."
Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin suffered an additional hip injury Sunday while
making a block and left the contest. Eagles coach Andy Reid indicated that
Maclin, who was battling a hip pointer from the opening week, would likely
struggle to practice on Wednesday.
Reid also said offensive tackle King Dunlap would be questionable for practice
because of a hamstring strain.
The Eagles are 2-0 heading into next Sunday's game at Arizona.
