Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Mikhail Grabovski scored the eventual
deciding goal in the third period as the Toronto Maple Leafs posted a 4-2
victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. Phil Kessel and
Nikolai Kulemin also lit the lamp for Toronto, with Jay McClement adding
an empty-net tally to help back a 23-save effort from Ben Scrivens.
Philadelphia's Jakub Voracek continued his recent hot streak by recording a
goal and an assist, while Scott Hartnell netted his first marker of the season
in the loss. Claude Giroux assisted on both Flyers' scores. Ilya Bryzgalov
stopped 18-of-21 shots in Philadelphia's second defeat at the hands of the
Leafs this month, with Toronto registering a 5-2 home triumph in a Feb. 11
meeting.
Final Score: Ottawa 2, Montreal 1 (SO)
Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - Peter Regin's goal in the fifth round of the
shootout and Ben Bishop's 44-save effort lifted the Ottawa Senators over the
Montreal Canadiens, 2-1, in a Northeast Division battle. Dave Dziurzynski
scored in regulation for the Senators, who have won five in a row. Bishop
started his second straight game in net for an injured Craig Anderson,
who is out with a sprained right ankle suffered last Thursday against the New
York Rangers. Ottawa, which improved to 9-1-2 as the host this season, now
sits one point behind Montreal in the division standings. Andrei Markov
scored the lone goal for the Canadiens, who have recorded a point in eight
straight games, going 6-0-2 in those contests. Carey Price stopped 23-of-24
shots in defeat.
Final Score: Nashville 5, Dallas 4 (OT)
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Pekka Rinne had an off night for the
Nashville Predators. Fortunately, his team managed to break out of its scoring
slump. Roman Josi recorded a career-high two goals, including a power-play
tally 28 seconds into overtime, as the Predators halted a two-game skid
with a 5-4 come-from-behind triumph over the Dallas Stars at Bridgestone
Arena. After being shut out in their two most recent setbacks during a
stretch of four defeats in five games, Nashville received a four-point night
out of Josi and rallied from a 4-2 second-period deficit to offset a sluggish
performance by the usually reliable Rinne, who let up four goals in the middle
session and made just 20 saves. Mike Fisher tied the contest with 8:22
left in regulation with his 200th career goal, with Craig Smith and Patric
Hornqvist also lighting the lamp for a Nashville squad that entered the
contest as the NHL's lowest-scoring team. Matt Fraser netted his first
career NHL marker and Loui Eriksson had a goal and an assist for Dallas,
which suffered its third loss in four games despite three assists from Michael
Ryder. Christopher Nilstorp finished with 26 saves for the Stars.
