Union County announced at a press conference on Monday that Larry Kerr will be the next head football coach.
Kerr, who last coached at Anderson County, decided to come out of retirement to take over the program.
Kerr's 30 plus year coaching career has seen stops at Lake City, Halls, and Anderson County. He led Halls to a state championship in 1986, and had a long successful tenure from 1993 to 2008 at Anderson County with several deep playoff runs.
Kerr has a career record of 268-112, and will now lead a Union County program on a 26-game losing streak. He noted that he needed, and was up for the challenge. Coming along with Kerr will be his son, Josh Kerr, who recently resigned as the head coach of Clinton.
