The PrepXtra Players of the Week dominated in their individual performances to give their teams wins last week.
Austin-East's Darius Harper racked up over 46 percent of online votes to win PrepXtra Offensive Player of the Week for Week 9.
The senior quarterback completed 14-17 passes for 311 yards and four touchdowns in the Roadrunners' 40-0 win over Rockwood. Harper says his work on staying in the pocket this season helped elevate his game and give his team the win.
"I've done that this year, and it shows," Harper said.
Austin-East head coach Jeff Phillips thought Harper's performance was among his best.
"I thought he was just really poised," Phillips said. "It's something I expect from every year, to stay calm and poised and have a good game."
Austin-East aims to stay atop the Region 2-2A standings as it faces Sweetwater Friday night.
The King's Academy's junior linebacker Cole Lusby helped his team defeat Mt. Juliet Christian after a blistering defensive performance.
Lusby earned PrepXtra Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording 34 tackles, 22 of which were solo, to lead the Lions' defense.
Lions' head coach Matt Lowe has never seen this type of performance before.
"For the opposing team to have, I believe 72, 74 total snaps of offense and him to be in on 34 total hits with 22 solos and 12 assists," Lowe said. "Unbelievable job.
"I've never seen anything like it."
TKA received a playoff berth with the win, and that's what meant the most to Lusby.
"It means more than anything," Lusby said. "It means a lot to me to have a game like that and have the teammates I do to be able to play with them and have a good game."
The Lions play Lenoir City Friday night.
