While Janelle Arthur's star rocketed in to the sky on American Idol, it originally launched from a stage in Dollywood. Now, her path brings her back to the place where her dream began.
(WBIR-Knoxville, Tenn.) Country music will shine bright this weekend at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. The hype is focused around a rising star in the industry.
American Idol Season 12 finalist and Oliver Springs, Tenn. native Janelle Arthur will headline one of the park's main shows.
Arthur will perform in Dollywood's The Great American Country Show September 20-23. The energetic, modern production will run three times daily except for Saturday when four shows are scheduled.
"It felt so good to be on this stage again. The last time I was here I was 10-years-old because I started here when I was 8 and I did the show [Paradise Road] for three years," Arthur said Wednesday in a WBIR interview.
The country singer spent several years playing a young Dolly Parton in Paradise Road at Dollywood but her memories of the park begin well before that. Raised in East Tennessee, her family visited Dollywood often.
It's well known Arthur admires Dolly Parton. She sings one of Parton's country hits during The GAC Show.
"I couldn't choose between Dumb Blonde and Smoky Mountain Memories, but I wanted to keep the energy up. People come here to see a show and I definitely wanted to put a good one on for them," Arthur said.
Arthur recently finished the 30-city 'American Idol Live' tour and is currently living in Nashville.
