Country radio stations in Knoxville were bombarded by listeners hoping to win Blake Shelton tickets.
(WBIR-Knoxville) Blake Shelton is a very popular name on country radio stations in Knoxville. The music star will play his "Ten Times Crazier Tour" in Knoxville on Friday. The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside Thompson-Boling Arena on the University of Tennessee campus.
Shelton has a lot of fans in East Tennessee. Radio personalities at WIVK-FM, Merle FM and Q100.3 have noticed increased hype for this particular event.
"He's everywhere," said 'Opie Joe' with Q100.3. "He's all over the radio, he's all over the TV, they can't get enough of him because he speaks his mind. I think people love that about Blake."
"It's a big deal. Blake is a superstar with The Voice. He's a big television personality as well as being a big country music performer so people are pumped up about it," said Andy with WIVK-FM's Andy and Alison Morning Show.
"Here he is. This big, funny, talented guy they see on The Voice and they say 'hey, let me check that guy out'. I think a lot of people have become country music fans because of him," Alison with WIVK-FM said.
"It shows people are willing to come out and pay money to have a good time for the big artist to come in," said 'Uncle Phil', a radio host at Merle FM.
Shelton was recently nominated for 5 CMA Awards. The awards program will be held November 6.
