Stores deck windows for 2013 decorating contest
(WBIR-Knoxville) Tourists flock to New York City each Christmas to view holiday window displays. While the arrangements are not as elaborate as those in the Big Apple, the creative idea is catching on in Downtown Knoxville.
As part of Christmas in the City, the City of Knoxville is hosting a window decorating contest for the second year in a row. Thirty stores are participating this season by creating dreamy, winter scenes. The Old City, Market Square, Gay Street, Union Avenue and Clinch Avenue are all represented.
The public may vote for their favorite window on the city's special events Facebook page.
A full list of stores decorating their storefronts are compiled on this list.
WBIR Live At 5 At 4's Stoney Sharp dropped by Coldstream Market and Rick Terry Jewelers. Both stores hope to win the 2013 competition.
The winners of the window decorating contest will be announced December 16 at 2 p.m. on the Market Square stage.
