Food Network star Tyler Florence will headline an event during the International Biscuit Festival at 8 p.m. May 18 at the Tennessee Theatre.
Florence, host of Food Network's The Great Food Truck Race, will host a live event called An Evening with Tyler Florence . On May 6 it was announced that the Food Network, a Biscuit Festival sponsor, will donate $10 for every ticket sold to "Food for Kids", a collaboration between Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee and the schools within their 18 county service area. Their main objective is to provide healthy meals to children in East Tennessee who may be going without regular meals.
Food Network works with their national partner, Share Our Strength, on their No Kid Hungry Initiative. As an added incentive, Food Network will also donate an additional $10,000 to Share Our Strength's national Summer Meals program. In all, $25,000 will be donated to deliver food on a local and national level.
Celebrity Chef Tyler Florence is the headliner for the 2014 International Biscuit Festival. He will discuss popular shows America's Best Cook, Food Court Wars and The Great Food Truck Race.
If Florence's show sells out, that will mean a $15,000 donation from Food Network, which translates to more than 45,000 meal deliveries to nearly 600 kids in our area this summer.
