I joined the ranks at Channel 10 in April 2010 as a reporter. Admittedly, before I moved here, two thoughts came to mind: SEC football and Bart Simpson going to the "Wod Fir." I learned a few things about Knoxville since then, like the Sunsphere does not, I repeat NOT, contain a surplus of wigs.
Before joining WBIR-TV, I reported and anchored the news in my hometown of Bridgeport, WV at WDTV, the local CBS affiliate. I also spent part of my career as a bureau reporter for KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, another CBS affiliate.
I'm a proud graduate of West Virginia University's P.I. Reed School of Journalism, where I attended for undergrad and graduate school. I majored in broadcast news and English literature, and later master's work in journalism. (Insert obligatory LET'S GO MOUNTAINEERS!)
While I call the Mountain State home turf, I was a bona fide Army brat for the first 16 years of my life. That means living in boxes and moving to as many towns as I have fingers. Now Knoxville is proudly my new home, and I hope to stick around here for a while!
If you have a story idea, (or want to discuss Mountaineer football) I'm on Twitter at @SteveWBIR.
