(WBIR) Every year biologists with the Tennessee Valley Authority study sport fish in lakes across the area. This week they're focusing on Fort Loudoun Lake in Knoxville.
TVA collects fish in the same spots of lakes and streams all over the valley every year. They shock the sport fish, and then count, weigh and measure them. At the end of the season, TVA releases the information to the state and academics across the southeast.
"Everything is looking healthy right now," said John Justice with TVA River and Reservoir Compliance. "I know the tournament weights for the local anglers have been really high on Fort Loudoun. The weights have increased from the times in the past. Hopefully we'll have a great year. A great season with sport fish."
TVA has been collecting this type of data for more than 15 years.
