Gilbert will promote her new book 'The Signature of All Things' during her world book tour stop in Knoxville.
(Knoxville - WBIR) Friday morning will be exciting for book lovers in East Tennessee. Tickets for 'An Evening with Elizabeth Gilbert' go on sale at 10 a.m.
Gilbert is best known for her New York Times bestseller, Eat, Pray, Love.
The author worked on Eat, Pray, Love during a temporary stay in Knoxville.
"Elizabeth Gilbert was here as a Writer-in-Residence at UT. Michael Knight actually called her in. She worked with the creative writing group at UT and the students loved her," said Mary Pom Claiborne with the Knox County Public Library.
During her six month stay in 2005, Gilbert called Hotel Saint Oliver home.
"She came to Knoxville pretty much after her epic journey across the world. She was used to eccentric places. I think the Saint Oliver Hotel, at the time, really fit her romanticism. It was an eclectic place at the time," Mary Pom Claiborne said.
The Hotel Saint Oliver was renovated and renamed The Oliver Hotel.
Due to her close Knoxville connection, Friends of the Knox County Public Library is presenting An Evening with Elizabeth Gilbert at the historic Tennessee Theatre. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. on November 2.
Tickets, which are $35 ($30 for students/seniors) will include a copy of Gilbert's new book, The Signature of All Things.
Elizabeth Gilbert's stop is part of her world tour for the new novel.
"We were really fortunate to get her on this tour. Knoxville usually does not get the big authors on their world tour when they have a new book coming out. I just pleaded," Claiborne said. I just said, 'she used to live here', 'she's a great author', ' we really want her to be here'. I think Knoxville really wants to see her."
Tickets may be purchased at the Tennessee Theatre box office, online at tennesseetheatre.com, by phone (865) 656-4444, or at any KnoxvilleTickets Outlet.
