Who needs breakfast when you can start your day with a flame-broiled burger instead.
At least that's how Burger King sees it. The fast-food chain, based in Miami, is rolling out a "burgers for breakfast" menu that makes certain lunch and dinner items available in the morning in addition to its breakfast staples.
Burger King told BurgerBusiness.com Thursday that 5,000 establishments have agreed to run the program.
The menu includes Whoppers, Cheeseburgers, Big King sandwiches, its Original Chicken Sandwich, french fries and apple pie.
The announcement comes about a month after Taco Bell rolled out its breakfast menu nationally, offering items such as the Waffle Taco and A.M. Crunchwrap.
Competitor McDonald's also recently offered free cups of McCafe coffee during regular breakfast hours. McDonald's is currently the industry leader at fast-food breakfast.
