When it comes to getting paid, the Material Girl still has it all over Lady Gaga.
Madonna and Gaga rank first and second on Forbes' new list of highest-paid musicians, and it's not even close. Madonna pulled in $125 million during Forbes' scoring period, thanks to a tour that grossed $305 million, along with sales of her clothing and fragrance lines. Gaga made $80 million, though the release of her ARTPOP album last week will give her a head start on next year's competition.
The biggest surprise on the list might be country singer Toby Keith, who ranked fourth behind Bon Jovi. Keith's $65 million comes not only from music and ticket sales but from his 18 restaurants and his brand of mescal.
"The beauty is where it synergizes with my label," Keith tells Forbes. "I don't have to look for a place [for my acts] to play. It's cost-effective as crap … they're in Toby's house. They're drinking Toby's liquor. That's Toby's act. And then we're moving to the next town."
According to Forbes, the 10 highest-paid musicians are:
Madonna - $125 million
