East Tennessee's favorite musician releases her next album, Blue Smoke, on May 13, and one song may surprise you.

Dolly Parton recorded a gospel version of Bon Jovi's 1988 hit "Lay Your Hands on Me."

"I always loved the song, but the first time I heard it – because I grew up in a Pentecostal church, where people believed in healing hands and laying your hands on someone – I just thought, "Wow, that would make a fantastic gospel song," Parton told Entertainment Weekly.

Dolly had to rework the lyrics, obviously, but she didn't do it without permission from the song's writers, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. She told EW the two rockers were excited and even helped her with the writing.

She said Sambora attended one of her concert's in Australia and "flipped out" when she performed it on stage.

Perhaps we'll all get a chance to hear Dolly sing it when she performs at Thompon-Boling Arena on May 28.

You can watch Dolly perform the song i the video below. We think it turned out great!!
