Tuesday, THDA Board Members toured the Sertoma Center Labor of Love project site.
(WBIR-Knoxville) We've shown you the labor part of the Sertoma Center Labor of Love project. Tuesday, we got to see more of the money portion.
Members of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency stopped by the build site for a grand tour. A THDA grant helped cover a big chunk of project cost.
"The funds that THDA put in to get this started was about 35%," said Mike Stevens of Mike Stevens Homes.
"We have a variety of programs we run through our housing trust fund, among those are competitive grants and some funds that are available to organizations that help individuals with special needs," said Ralph Perry, Executive Director of THDA. "This is going to be a terrific home for some folks who are going to need it and will be better off for it."
Stevens said the rest of the money came from the Sertoma Center, volunteers and donated or discounted materials.
