Their photo celebrating engagements became a social media sensation thanks to friend's photobomb. The U.T. Students talk with Beth about the picture.
A group of girls posing for a picture to celebrate their engagements has turned into a social media sensation thanks to a clever, single friend.
The ladies, all students at the University of Tennessee, took a picture at a Christmas party recently that shows a number of them holding up their engagement rings. However, it's one girl in the photo-sans engagement ring- that steals the spotlight.
On December 19, that scene-stealer, Megan Jones of Knoxville along with brides-to-be Ashley Arms of Knoxville and Laura Leeson of Kingsport talked with Beth Haynes about how the photo that landed them in the national spotlight came to be.
The ladies said they took the photo using a camera timer and none of them realized what Megan was doing until after it was taken. The girls said they all have a great sense of humor and thought the photograph was funny. One of the students, Chelsea Wilholt, posted the photo on Facebook and the rest is history.
The girls are off on their winter break but will return to U.T. in January.
