(WBIR) More than 20,000 people took a trip down Biscuit Boulevard Saturday during the 5th annual International Biscuit Festival in downtown Knoxville.

Organizers said this year marked the biggest offering of biscuits in its establishment.

After the biscuits ran out and the crowds dispersed, the winners got their time to shine in all the biscuit glory.

The Ms. Pearl Biscuit, from Tomato Head and the Flourhead Bakery, won the People's Choice Award. According to organizers, festival attendees overwhelmingly picked it as their favorite out of the more than 20 creations in the Biscuit Boulevard tasting area.

Runners up for People's Choice were last year's winner Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant for their Granny's Cran-Apple Biscuit, and The Plaid Apron for their Way Down Yonder in the Pawpaw Patch Biscuit.

However, The Plaid Apron didn't go home empty handed, their biscuit won the award for best name. And the Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop won the Best Biscuit Booth Award.

Meanwhile, Erin Carlini grabbed the title of Grand Champion of the Southern Biscuit Flour Biscuit Baking Contest. Her Chesapeake Bay Biscuit won over the judges and topped the special category competition.

Other biscuit baking contest category winners included Heather Thacker in the Savory category (Marcona Crumble & Candied Bacon Miscuit), Paige Sandbank won the Sweet category (Orange Spice Cardamom Delight Biscuit), and Auden Cole won the student category (Auden's Sausage Smasher Biscuit).
