(News10, Sacramento) A California Highway Patrol officer reportedly rescued a Chihuahua on Friday from the median of Interstate 680. The officer used a protein bar to coax the Chihuahua toward him, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
The dog has since been taken to an animal shelter, and there have been several adoption offers from the public. A CHP officer told the Mercury News that it's likely someone left the Chihuahua on the freeway.
The CHP Contra Costa Twitter account shared a photo of the officer with the dog Friday night.
That photo, in turn, has been shared by many news organizations, including our friends at KGO in the Bay Area. KGO's Facebook post had been shared nearly 11,000 times as of 4 a.m. Monday, and "California Highway Patrol" was among Facebook's top trending topics.
