Applications are now available for communities that want to become certified adventure tourism districts.

The Department of Economic and Community Development will allow tourism related businesses in tourism districts to qualify for tax credits.

Adventure tourism includes white water rafting, kayaking, rappelling, road and mountain biking, spelunking, and horseback riding.

Officials say outdoor recreation generates more than $8 billion for the state and more than $80,000 jobs.
