(WBIR, Knoxville) - Two Knoxville companies that have been around since the 1920's are joining forces under one roof.
The Athletic House, which specializes in sporting equipment and apparel, has merged with Bacon & Company, which sells corporate uniforms and collegiate licensed products.
The Athletic House and its employees are moving operations to Bacon and Company's distribution center downtown where a new sports team division will be added.
"It was a natural fit for us at Bacon & Company because we do corporate uniforms and promotional products, so this is really just an extension. It's really going after all of the team business, the schools, and the leagues and so forth. We feel like together we are going to be stronger, bigger and hopefully better," said Jed Dance, president of Bacon & Company.
With this merger, the Athletic House will no longer be selling retail items, so right now they have all sports apparel and equipment marked down.
