Knox County financial officials say they expect to save around $1 million in pension contributions for the upcoming fiscal year.

In total, Finance Director Chris Caldwell says the county could save between $900,000 and $1.5 million. He says the county will contribute less to the old county plan, the old school plan, and the uniformed officer's pension plan.

Officials will have a final number on savings in about a month.

The estimates come after Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett said the county will face a tight budget and said he expects no government growth next year.
