(WBIR) Target released information about how to enroll for one free year of credit monitoring and identity theft protection for all its customers who shopped in U.S. stores.
The major retailer announced last week that it would offer this protection following the massive data breach at its stores over the holiday season.
Ongoing investigation found up to 70 million more people were affected than originally reported. Stolen information includes names, mailing addresses, phone numbers or e-mail addresses for up to 70 million people.
Target selected ProtectMyID to run the credit monitoring and identity theft protection. In addition to the complimentary copy of their credit report, customers who sign up will get daily credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, and access to personalized assistance. After 12 months, people who register will have the option to pay for continuing their memberships.
