A 20-hour search for two missing boys near a flooded creek has ended in tragedy.

Search crews found the bodies Monday of two 11-year-old boys. They went missing on the Chickamauga Creek near Chattanooga on Sunday.

One hundred officers and rescue workers helped in the search and recovery efforts. They found the two bodies Monday in flooded waters about 100 yards from where they entered the creek.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened.

"The information we have from the kids who didn't get in the water said when they last saw the kids they were floating south toward town but they did not seem to be struggling and they were still above water," said Chattanooga Police Chief Bobby Dodd.

Community members say they are in shock as they mourn the losses.

Police say they want parents to remind their kids not to go in the water for areas that are not designated for swimming.
