HOUSTON (AP) -- Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams is to be remembered at a church service in Houston.

The Oklahoma-born Adams, who followed his father, a chief executive of Phillips Petroleum, into the oil business, died last week at his home in Houston. He was 90.

Services were set for Monday afternoon at Houston's Second Baptist Church.

Adams in 1959 was a founding member of the American Football League and his Houston Oilers won the first two AFL titles. His battles for players with the old-guard National Football League helped lead to the two leagues merging later in the 1960s.

Adams antagonized some fans in his adopted hometown for firing popular Oilers coach Bum Phillips in 1980, then became further reviled for moving the team from Houston to Tennessee in 1997.
