I joined the 10News family in November of 2013, just in time to see the oddest winter East Tennessee has had in a long time. Also, just in time to help deliver breaking weather-related stories on WBIR and Fox43.
News is something I enjoy and have the pleasure of doing for my career, and now I am honored to share that with East Tennessee.
I am not from the area, but was drawn in by the many lakes, mountains, and hospitality. The perfect combination to make me feel welcomed.
I was born in a northern suburb of Chicago, Illinois, called Glenview. That's where I picked up my first camera along with my interest in the news business.
From there, I went to college at the University of Missouri where I received a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While going to school, I worked as a multimedia journalist at KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate for Mid-Missouri.
My first job out of college was a hop, skip and a jump away from school.
I worked at KHQA-TV in Quincy, Illinois as a Weekend Anchor and Reporter. This job allowed me to spend more time out in the field meeting the many faces of the area. That is my favorite part of the job.
Now that I am in East Tennessee, you could probably find me near any body of water. If not there, I am most likely searching for some great local music to listen to.
So if you see me out on the lake or even around town, please say hello. I always enjoy hearing what you have to say.
If you have a story idea, you can find me on twitter at @JeffWBIR. Yes, my picture is me reporting on the back of a horse…. Because, Why not?
