The men and women who served in the first Gulf War are one step closer to having a permanent place in our nation's capital.

Congressman Phil Roe (R-Tenn.) is sponsoring a bill that would create a memorial dedicated to the 600,000 veterans who fought for our country in Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield, including the 148 soldiers who died in action and the 293 who died while overseas.

The memorial will be built entirely through private donations.
