A heavy stench coming from an abandoned restaurant in West Tennessee led police and animal control officers to a startling find.
Officials found cats, and lots of them, inside the former Mason Market. They seized nearly 100 furry inhabitants after neighbors called about the stench.
A woman claiming to be the owner of the cats showed up shortly after police. She says she comes out several times a day to care for the animals and she claims she's operating a cat rescue.
The cats are scheduled to be up for adoption some time next week.
