CHAPMANSBORO, TN (WSMV) - A man was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center following an experimental plane crash in Cheatham County on Sunday afternoon.

Dr. Bill Alexander was flying when he apparently had engine problems.

He crashed landed around 3:15 p.m. in the area of Aresti Drive, which is in Chapmansboro.

Officials say neighbors rushed to the scene and pulled him from the wreckage which burst into flames.

Officials say the man has severe burns over 45-50 percent of his body.

FAA is investigating.
