(WBIR) Flags at all state office buildings in Kentucky will fly at half-staff Thursday to honor a Fort Campbell soldier killed in Afghanistan.
Staff Sgt. Scott R. Studenmund died Wednesday during a combat operation in Gaza Village, Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell, Ky.
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear encourages people, businesses, organizations, and government agencies to lower their flags to honor Staff Sgt. Studenmund.
Studenmund will also be honored in a service at Arlington National Cemetery Thursday at 9 a.m.
