After John Seigenthaler's funeral, the congregation seemed to be talking about two things: the majesty of the service and the performance of Seigenthaler's grandson, Jack. Just 17 years old, the rising high school senior gave a poised, witty and very moving speech about his grandfather — who loved to talk about him just as poignantly — that had plenty of people raving.
"I love you, Grand, and I'll miss you," he concluded, "and I can't wait until the day when I can make a grandchild of mine feel the way you made me feel."
Moments later, as dignitaries and other guests moved out to the sidewalk along West End Avenue, at least two people offered Jack internships. One of them was U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander.
In the meantime, Jack is still deciding where he'll go to college next year.
