A fundraiser Monday helped a Kentucky animal shelter that lost almost everything in a fire last fall.

The fire at the Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter killed more than 30 cats, one dog, and a guinea pig last November. Since the fire, the shelter has been working out of a temporary home.

Monday evening, the shelter held a fundraiser with activities for the whole family. They charged money for different activities and all the proceeds will help pay for renovations at its new shelter.

Shelter officials hope to open the new center by late summer or early fall.
