(WBIR-North Knoxville) Several suspects fled from a north Knoxville home when police arrived to serve a search warrant including one who jumped out of a window.
Police were searching the home on the 100 block of East Springdale Avenue in north Knoxville because neighbors had suspected drug dealing.
When police had enough evidence that marijuana was sold there, they went to the home Thursday afternoon to serve a search warrant.
Police say two men on the front porch grabbed backpacks and ran when they saw officers approaching. While they were running, police say they dropped the backpacks.
In a press release a KPD spokesman says a suspect jumped out of a window when officers entered the home. There is no word on if the suspect had any injuries.
Police caught up with two of the suspects. They also recovered the backpacks. A third suspect hopped into a getaway vehicle.
A short time later, a short distance away, the abandoned getaway vehicle turned up at Tennova hospital in north Knoxville.
Later, three suspects from the vehicle were arrested. A search of the home turned up 19 ounces of marijuana, multiple boxes of bullets, counterfeit bills, a possibly stolen flatscreen TV, and other electronics.
Two of the five detained suspects had previous run-ins with the law. They had outstanding warrants. One was for aggravated burglary. Another was for violation of probation.
Police expect more charges against another person who was recently let out of Federal Prison.
