Lenoir City Utilities Board said scammers have targeted some of its customers.

Two commercial businesses told LCUB that a scammer called them, saying that the companies' power bills were overdue. The scammer, who said her name was Jennifer, told the business that their power would be disconnected within 30 minutes unless a money order was made at a local Pilot store.

LCUB said it never calls customers over the phone about late payments. The utility company sends late notices through the mail and leaves door tags on customers' homes.

If you get a similar call from a scammer, LCUB said you shouldn't provide any personal information. LCUB also wants customers, who believe they were scammed, to call their offices.
