Johnson City police said six children ransacked an apartment and set a stolen backpack on fire near the property.
Officers arrested the six children, who ranged from 9 to 11 years old, and charged them each with aggravated burglary. Three of the six were also charged with setting personal property on fire.
Police said the children set a stolen backpack on fire Sunday evening near the Stoneybrook Heights Apartments, which began to grow out of control. After crews arrived to the scene, a tenant of Stoneybrook Heights Apartments told officers that her apartment was ransacked and several items were stolen, including a backpack.
Officers found some of the stolen property in the children's homes and at the scene of the fire.
After the six children were arrested and charged, officials released them back to the their parents.
