CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -A former worker at the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute has been charged with sexual battery by an authority figure after a female patient told police she had sex the him.
Investigators with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said on their website that Marcus Dewayne Benford has been indicted for sexually assaulting the female patient.
The victim stated she had sexual intercourse with Benford on April 21, 2013, and reported it to police the following day.
Benford was a technician at Moccasin Bend at the time.
The grand jury for the 11th Judicial District in Hamilton County returned an indictment for Benford, charging the 38-year-old Chattanooga man with sexual battery by an authority figure.
Benford turned himself in to officers with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department on Saturday night; he is being held on a $25,000 bond.
