Health officials say a salmonella outbreak killed one person and hospitalized four more in Kentucky.

It happened in Hopkins County, which is north of Nashville.

Officials are trying to figure out whether the cases are connected. The victims suffered from diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps.

"We received several in a row this week. And when you have several in a row, we start to look at that a little differently," said Denise Beach with the Hopkins County health department.

Problems for patients usually begin 12 hours after the person gets sick.
