(WBIR-Sevierville) The City of Sevierville dedicated a bridge to former fire department chief Mike Rawlings Monday.

Peoplecame togetherto dedicate the bridge at 9 a.m. in front of the Gathering Church at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and south end of Middle Creek Road.

Rawlings began his career at the Sevierville Fire Department in 1990. He was made fire chief in 1993.

Chief Rawlings died in 2011 after a long battle with cancer.

Tennessee State Rep. Dale Carr, Sevierville Mayor Bryan Atchley and First Baptist Church Associate Pastor Jerry Hyder all spoke at the ceremony.

The City of Sevierville plans to honor former Fire Department Chief Mike Rawlings Monday morning at a memorial and bridge dedication.

The dedication is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in front of The Gathering Church at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and the south end of Middle Creek Road.

The scheduled speakers include Tennessee State Representative Dale Carr, Sevierville Mayor Bryan Atchley and First Baptist Church Associate Pastor Jerry Hyder.
