A celebration at a West Knoxville restaurant Tuesday was two-fold-- as part of their reopening fun, O'Charley's on Kingston Pike honored a hometown hero.
John Dyess is an Army Reserve ambassador to Tennessee. He joined the military in 1965 serving in assignments in the US and Central America. Dyess now works with employer support of the guard and the reserve.
Family and friends joined him at Tuesday's dinner.
"I am blessed to have a lot of friends. All of whom believe in a strong military and who are willing to contribute their time and talents and energy to promoting them," he said.
The O'Charley's location is now sporting a new look that includes new logos, brighter colors, and an updated menu.
