Starting Friday at noon, TDOT will shut down road work for the Labor Day weekend.

That means no road construction from Friday until 6 a.m. Tuesday. However, long-term closures with traffic barriers will stay in place.

There could still be workers in construction zones and authorities will still enforce work-zone speed limits.

According to AAA, nearly 600,000 Tennesseans will travel in their cars this holiday weekend. That's a jump from last year.
