A center dedicated to preserving Tennessee politics and public policy celebrated its 10th anniversary on Wednesday by holding a reception.

Since the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy opened in 2003, staff members say the center has changed from an archive facility to taking a more active role in research. But one of their main goals remains preserving Tennessee's political past.

"We need to have a historical record of the contributions of Tennessee's leaders both at the state level in their contributions, but in particular Tennessee's contributions to the national well-being, national legislation, and the U.S. generally," said Dr. Matt Murray.

The center has been open for 10 years, and has been in its new building for five.
