Many meet in Roane County to remember a five year old Rhea County boy whom deputies say was killed.
Dozens of people gathered in front of a brightly lit gazebo Friday night at Harriman's Riverfront Park. All were holding a lit candle as they remembered 5-year-old Landon Robbins.
"I still don't know what to feel really. I can't believe this even happened. It's a feeling I've never ever dreamed of feeling," said Landon's grandfather, Jerry Wells.
Rhea County Sheriff's deputies say Landon was found dead on August 30th in Spring City at a camper on Cawood Road. Investigators say they found several injuries on the child and also said preliminary autopsy results revealed the child died from blunt force trauma.
Ashley Green, Landon's aunt, said, "He was a good kid. I don't understand why anybody would want to hurt him."
Deputies have arrested Landon's mother, Jessica Robbins, and her boyfriend, Bradley Adcox. Both are facing charges of Felony first degree murder and aggravated child abuse resulting in death. The duo was arraigned Friday in Rhea County.
"I think they need to face justice. There's not enough justice, that's how I feel. They took his life and he was just five years old. He was just beginning his life," said Green.
"Just knowing I'll never get to hold him, never get to spend time with him, never get to go fishing with him, never get to do anything with him. It's wrong that he was taken," said Wells.
Many at the candlelight vigil shared Wells' feelings. Some were unable to fight back tears--thinking of all of the moments they'll never get to share with the little boy.
