It's Florida week! The time of year when the Vols mentally and physically prepare for their first SEC match-up of the season.
Of course, it's going to be tough when the Vols head to the swamp in Gainesville this Saturday to take on the Florida Gators, but Vols Head Coach Butch Jones said they have been gearing up all week.
At his weekly radio show, Vol Calls, a fan asked him about his nervousness this game compared to the three others this year.
"I understand the magnitude of this game, the first SEC game. But I treat every game, prepare for every game, like it's the game for the national championship. I get more nervous for the week of practice," Coach Jones told the radio caller.
This rivalry has a history going back decades. But the last eight times the teams have played, the Gators have taken the victory.
Last year, there was so much hope going into the game. ESPN's Gameday was in town and UT was ranked in the top 25 but Florida ran all over them.
This year they are coming off of a devastating loss to Oregon. The Ducks scored 59 unanswered points bringing the final score to 59-14.
Keeping with true Volunteer tradition though, the fans Wednesday at Calhouns are hanging in there.
"You can really see a change in the players, in their attitudes and in the fans. Everybody's excited and I'm excited too to see what happens in Gainesville," said Candi Rochelle, a Vol fan.
The game kicks off in the Swamp at 3:30 EST on CBS.
