(WBIR, Knoxville) - AT&T is working to raise awareness about the dangers of texting and driving.
Thursday, the company declared it's "Drive for Pledges" day.
They are asking drivers to sign a pledge online to not text and drive.
The campaign is called "It Can Wait" because AT&T officials say no text is worth your life.
They were set up on Market Square Thursday taking pledges and giving out car decals that remind folks to not text while driving.
"We started doing this campaign in 2009, and we think it's important to warn people about the proper use of technology," said AT&T Regional Director Alan Hill. "We realize with the technology of today that people want to have and really can't do without that there is a right way and a wrong way to use it. So we want all of our customers and the general public to understand the challenges of texting while driving."
